Who can take PTE Academic, and what it's used for.

PTE Academic Eligibility at a Glance

No formal prerequisites

PTE Academic has no minimum qualification or entry barrier - anyone can register through the official Pearson PTE website.

Parental consent under 18

Candidates under 18 may need parental or guardian consent, depending on local test centre policy.

Accepted for university admission

PTE Academic is accepted for university admission and professional registration across most English-speaking countries.

Accepted for immigration

It's accepted by immigration programs in Australia, the UK, Canada, and New Zealand, alongside IELTS.

Fully computer-based, no interview

Everything - including Speaking - is computer-delivered and AI-scored in one sitting, with no separate interview to schedule.

Fast results

Since scoring is automated end to end, results typically come back faster than exam-board-graded tests.
